What have you traded eggs for?

My neighbor noticed my chickens today and when he got home today sent his boy back with some real maple syrup from his families trees in Michigan. I didn't actually trade but will no doubt send eggs his way. Got me to thinking about various deals and trades others may have done......what have your girls earned for ya?

I haven't traded for eggs, but I tip my hairdresser in eggs and homemade jam. She loves it.

Nice!...my son just got back from Paris and while there picked up some jelly as a simple "I got ya something" oh my goodness ....this was the absolute best stuff I ever tasted. Only problem is we have to figure out where he got it and how to order it....would be worth the shipping! Im also getting garden goodies but next spring I will have my own greenhouse and going organic. will be hard to beat me outta eggs then. Jelly was an apple-vanilla. im down to one more serving......

My neighbor grows blueberries, figs and other fruits and veggies. I give them a few dozen eggs every couple of weeks and I have fresh blueberries and assorted jams in return. Yum!

An incubator! I traded a couple dozen hatching eggs for it. And I trade them for other eggs. And chicks

We have a handyman who became a close friend over the years. Often, he refuses $ for his services, so I slip him some eggs instead. He built our coop, so it's only fair that he gets some eggs from time to time.

Likewise our next door neighbor is like a second grandma to our kids. She won't take money for babysitting or pet sitting while we're away, so we pay her in eggs & garden veggies.

I'm a science teacher & use raw eggs for some of our labs. (Egg Drop, Egg-nertia, Egg dissection, etc.) If the student's design works, the egg remains safe, &/or the assignment meets the requirements, the prize is the egg. The kids loved knowing which chicken made their egg & the parents were impressed by their children's strong motivation.

Trading is really cool...it has a meaning to me. I love the fact one can trade food! I like going back to where everyone grew a specialty and traded each other......one can specialize in eggs while another is the tomato guru or jam etc. I like to think I do my best raising heathy happy chickens that give an egg superior to that of most in exchange for the best of other products that have great pride taken while making, growing, teaching whatever the value may be in exchange for. I could sure use a painter about now. BTW the maple syrup was on the menu this morning with my wife's waffle's. Wow! We have a few specialty items we can trade for.......mainly organic items like salsa, hot sauce, an amazing chicken marinade and my secret salad dressing.......everyone who tries it buys it and I don't really have it for sale. Lol

I'd love fresh blueberries! I have a couple of plants, but they don't produce much.

I love them too! My neighbor raises them to sell, so he doesn't mind swapping some for fresh eggs! It works out for both of us.
