I really want to try building a some version of the MHP, but I can't find any that don't have auto shut-off. I would prefer not to mess with the wiring and remove the auto shut-off control. If any one knows of a brand or has a link that would be awesome. Thanks in advance guys

Well, I just found one so never mind, lol. I'll post the link in case any future members find this thread.

Maybe this will work:

Sunbeam 2013-912 Xpress Heat Microplush Heating Pad for Quick Pain Relief, Extra Large (12" x 24")

The one you linked says it does have auto shut-off.
Yes, but it can be disabled.
Advantage of the one you linked is that it will come back on after a power outage, my digital one won't.

Chewy.com has pet bed heating pads that don’t shut off that I’ve been wanting to try. They’re made for pets so they shouldn’t get too hot like some heating pads might.

Be careful of pet beds.
Sometimes they are activated by the weight of the animal,
and many give you no control over the level of heat. so may not be warm enough for chicks.

Mine was just delivered today, I have to say it's working wonderfully. Whomever first posted the MHP idea, THANK YOU.

This is my first time without a broody hen, and the chicks are happily sleeping underneath the pad and I don't have to fear a fire. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

There were several discussions around March 2014 in multiple threads in multiple sub forums about using a people heating pad to simulate the Brinsea or Premier brooder heater.
That's when I made mine, I was thrilled to tinker it out.
