Hi I was wondering what height most people have their coop off the floor?
I've done mine about 2 foot but Mrs Jambo has said it's too high!?! I was hoping to have the food and water under it so it's sheltered but the run is going to have a roof on it as well so that might not be a big issue??
I have 2 coops that are 2 feet off the ground like yours. Plenty of space for them to go underneath when it's raining or for shade. I do have one rooster coop that is 1 foot off the floor but it's because I don't have to worry about eggs being laid under there. For coops that will have hens I will make it tall enough so that I can see underneath and reach in there without much trouble in case they decide to start laying there.
ETA: Actually I think mine are more like 3 ft off the ground or between 2-3 feet, I've never measured it. I'd have to ask my husband.
That height is fine, but you might want a ramp. All my coops are a couple inches off the ground but that is just because their design can't allow them to go any higher. So I think you're fine! Beautiful coop!
I had one 2' raised like you did. It was high enough for the birds to use that space and low enough I could easily clean the coop.
One thing to remember is you will need to access every corner under there. They will invariably lay eggs, become ill, act stubborn and go broody all in the absolute most inaccessible place posible.
I think 2' is a good height.....especially if you end up having to crawl under.
Tip: make access panels on the run so you can get to those tough corners.
My raised coops floor is just above wheelbarrow height. I park it in front of people door and use a long handled rake to get soiled shavings into wheelbarrow. GC
