What hen behavior should I expect before eggs hatch?

I have a wild chicken (old english game hen) sitting on a clutch of 15 serama and serama mix eggs. I candled them and they seem as though some are as much as a week apart in development, and some look like they should hatch any day now. She is in her movable nest (plastic detergent container) in a rubbermaid in my bathroom because I was afraid the rooster would kill the chicks. She seemed to be hovering an inch above her eggs and watching them earlier today. I heard no peeps and saw no cracks, Is this an indicator?

What types of behavior should I expect from my broody hen when hatch day arrives?

**I've never had a hen go broody or have hatched chicks (although I continue to try with my junkie homemade incubator

She won't behave any different, but you'll have to check on her everyday to see if she has chicks, and if so you might want to take them and raise them your self. If you still want her to set on the eggs then you'd better take them away and let her hatch out the rest.

WOw, thank you that makes sense! I was thinking I was going to have to take the extra eggs and try to finish incubating them. LOL Will she take the chicks back after she hatches all of the eggs if I've cared for them???

I have no idea. Old English Game is the closest breed I can connect her with, as "wild chickens" isn't a exactly a breed

I know sometimes the cocks are caught and used for cockfighting and they look like the breed but IDK.

She's small, a little taller and bigger than the serama rooster, but her eggs and serama eggs are about the same size (hers is bigger and has a more solid shell). about half the size of my RIR's

I'm really stoked to see how the cross will turn out

Has enyone else ever crossed a serama?
