I have a wild chicken (old english game hen) sitting on a clutch of 15 serama and serama mix eggs. I candled them and they seem as though some are as much as a week apart in development, and some look like they should hatch any day now. She is in her movable nest (plastic detergent container) in a rubbermaid in my bathroom because I was afraid the rooster would kill the chicks. She seemed to be hovering an inch above her eggs and watching them earlier today. I heard no peeps and saw no cracks, Is this an indicator?
What types of behavior should I expect from my broody hen when hatch day arrives?
**I've never had a hen go broody or have hatched chicks (although I continue to try with my junkie homemade incubator
