Saucier,Ms.
I was feeding my BW and Coturnix 16% laying crumbles and or pellets(depending on what I bought that time for my chickens)
and was getting 2-3 eggs(3 hens) a day from my BWs and none from the coturnix(still young might be why

10 weeks old now) and all looked healthy and happy.........I switched to 30% turkey grower for the protien and BWs stopped laying altogether and started pecking on each other and not eating much at all and yesterday I got my first coturnix egg

. I guess I will have to feed separate feeds

I feed a 24% feed(i think) to all my birds except chicks. It is Flock Raiser from Purina Mills. I feed it straight to the chickens and for the quail, I give them the feed mixed with oyster shell and scratch grain.

I mix it in a big container and they love it. The only reason why I mix the quails' feed is because I dont have seperate feeders for oyster shell.

So far, this works great! One day I got 17 eggs from my quail. I have 15 females. That is because the BW hid their eggs one day. lol

Good luck,
Cody!!

Can the quail take the flock raiser pellets? i assume thats what type you are feeding unless you have them on the medicated flock raiser(crumble)

they don't sell none medicated flock raiser in the crumble here in Pa..

I know my quail don't like the pelleted feeds, they make a mess with them when i tried it back some years ago, they prefer the game bird layer crumble or the other Purina game bird rations.

Just as a note, Flock Raiser is 20%. I had just looked it up a couple of hours ago because I'm trying to figure out what to settle on for our Valley Quail.

Flock Raiser Info

I dont know why it says 20% but I am 99.9% positive that mine is 24%. I can get a 30% feed at my feed store but it is 2 bucks more.
