I feel your pain and very sorry to hear about your house! Being in AL i'm not accustomed to the freezing weather. This carring buckets of water out at least twice a day is getting old (we have chickens and goats). I'm very thankful for having a home to run hot water in though so my walk is short, I just need stronger arms

I've busted my head and tailbone twice tring to step out of my shed where the feed is stored. I've learned that no matter how good your boots are that dang step is slick! I've also learned that giving a 3 yr old a walkie talkie so she will stay inside the house while you are freezing outside works wonders if you have the patience to answer her every few seconds while carring that heavy bucket of water. And about that frozen water... why do chickens feel the need to walk on top of it and poop? My baby goats think it is for standing on and tring to make each other fall, they acutally take turns at this.

No complaints on my end (freezing weather = fewer bugs this spring). You are in my prayers. Hope my observations give you a smile and a little chuckle during you time of hardship.

I am so very sorry you lost your home. Did you use a lawyer to negotiate with the insurance company?
I laughed while reading your post. That is so typical of a North Eastern Ohio winter. I didn't realize it stayed that cold in Tenn.
We usually don't have a problem with out barn hydrant, but it has been so cold for so long this year that we are having freezing hydrant issues too. And you are SO RIGHT about what works to keep it thawed. We finally figured out that if we put this old blanket with kittens on the top of it with a bucket on top of that that it doesn't freeze as often.
Anyway, I enjoyed your post and it was probably a good way for you to vent too.
We are all looking forward to spring. I hope it comes early for you, it sounds like you could use a decent break.

as far as the sound of the generator, i work in construction and we always make an L structure from 2 sheets of plywood to block the sound from the direction we are in, just make sure the exhaust is facing away from the wood. Hope that helps some .

You have been through some of the "worst of the worst" in the last month!!!! Most people would be completely destroyed. The fact that you STILL have a sense of humor means that you are a REAL SURVIVOR!!!

NO ONE can take that away from you!!!!

I hope that you have filed a complaint with the "Insurance Agency" in your state. Your payout is un-acceptable!!!

I had NO idea that it would get so cold in TN in the winter!!!

I guess I missed something in my geography class!!!

I am praying for you and your family! You deserve some "extra" help!!!
