many of you probably do not remember me but I have not been able to get on BYC since sometime in October, my computer did not like this site at all.

Anyway, January 1st we were having a party and were all in the living room at (12:15 watching the New Year's ceremony) of our very small house when I heard something, next thing I go and find my kitchen and back porch completely engulfed in flames. Our smoke detectors didn't go off and to have been 6 ft away never suspected a thing. Out house was totally destroyed in a matter of minutes.

We were able to get everyone out safe and all of the animals made it out alive, Komatzu one of our cats was trapped inthe basement and sustained some severe burns, he is doing very well now though.

Our insurance 'lost' our main policy and after a3 wk fight we are going to geta whopping 15,000 out of 80,000.

I could go on and on about what all has happened but we'll just leave it with that and share pictures. I'll try and post updates also. I have a few from another forum I will copy also.

Anyway, we (my husband, seven month old son, myself, 3 cats, 1 angora rabbit, 2 dogs and betta) are living in the spare apartment at my inlaws.

I have left 11 horses (a mare due to foal ina month), 4 goats, 6 dogs, 100 chickens, 2 turkeys, 6 ducks, and 3 pheasants at my farm that I am having to care for twice daily. It was nothing when they were in my back door and I had power but now being away from them and not having power in this dreadful weather is miserable. I miss them all so much.

Below are some clickable pictures of the damage from the fire and damage we have gotten from water from the 5inches we have gotten in a week, that was before the snow and ice. Everything you see now is still the same just frozen solid with snow on top.

I can't see the pictures because I'm here at work, but I'll look at them tonight when I get home.

I am so sorry for your loss! I can't even imagine how hard this has been on you and your family, but I am so thankful that you were all able to get out safely!

I am very sorry for your loss. I believe all things happen for a reason. We may never understand them but in the end we seem to come out with better and more than we started with in the first place. You and your family are in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about the housefire. It is good to hear you all got out alive and are doing well. We had a very similar thing happen to us a few years ago, and we were't any more than 10 feet away either. My son noticed it and my husband managed to save the house with a garden hose, but I know how fast they go, ours would have burned to the ground had he not taken quick action and if the hose had not been handy as it was.
Is there anyway you can try again with the insurance company? My goodness they didn't do very much to help you did they? I just don't get them anymore...more and more people who have insurance are left homeless because they don't mean what they say and have too many "outs"

OMG So glad you are safe and back with us.

What a start to your New Year,

I really hope the weather improves and soon, and you can get on with your life again.

Best wishes,

Jena.

blessings over you and yours for a better situation and healing for your cat.

I wish you all the best that things will get better fast.

Oh my goodness, how awful. I'm so sorry you lost your house and belongings. Thank God there was no loss of life! Your poor kitty.
