They put it on geldings noses too, as well as colts/stallions, at the racetrack. So they'll focus on the race, not the other horses.

Vicks is great stuff for coughs and colds. My Mom swears by it.

my father used it many years ago while he was harness racing at fairgrounds,not sure if it would be legal today.i always thought it was to help them breathe easier and to get them more air.i never thought about it as a scent distractant.it is awesome stuff.
i'm surprized nobody has mentioned using it as a feather picker deterant in chickens. will
