What I want from the BIG HATCHERIES-- or ANY HATCHERY!

Yes, we are listening. We have considered it before. However, it is not a feasible option for IDEAL.

We ship over 100,000 chicks on an average hatch during the peak season of the year. That is over 200,000 in a 3 1/2 day time period. Shipping Chickens is very labor intensive as well as time sensitive. We realize that customers wanting sexed bantams can and will pay a higher price however due to time constraints with the live animals it is just not a feasible possibility. By offering over 100 breeds of bantams as pullets, males and st. runs we would be tripling our product line. We just do not have the man power or facilities to offer that service.

A typical order may have 20 to 25 different types of poultry on the order. Imagine doubling that to 20 to 25 different pullets and males. Making 40 to 50 types to put in a box. The time boxing that order doubles or even triples that

Please keep sending us suggestions and comments.

I agree, I have looked at mypetchicken.com and they just don't have enough variety. I don't really mind paying a bit extra to have a smaller number shipped to me, but I do want to be able to get what I want.

I think all the hatcheries are low on varieties this time of year--- everyone has breeds that are only available in the spring. Check into it in January/February and I think you will be surprised at the difference available now vs. then. This refers to Ideal, McMurray, mypetchicken, Meyer and everyone else!!

I have a great suggestion for someone from BYC to try, and see what happens.
Why dont one of you guys get some Bantam RIR roosters, and a few Bantam Barred Rock Hens, and make a lot of Sex-Linked Bantam hens, and sell them on BYC, too feel it out, and see if people will buy them.
If it works out well, then you can start making Bantam Sex-Links in Red and Black.

Just a thought. I would do it myself if I had the room. But I dont, with all the Longtails, Junglefowl Hybrids, and Longcrowers.
