I'm still upset about loosing that turkey the other day, he was only 6 weeks old.

I;m really sorry you lost a turkey. That's awfull. I also have never had mites.. (knock on wood) I think are pest may not be as bad here in Canada, our pests get killed in the winter. I hope you are able to get rid of them easily
