What if I crossed a New Zealand with a Palomino?

Well, Gamble isn't very nice so we will keep one of the new does and replace her, but I am pretty fond of the others

. I will have them for sale from 6-12 weeks, but yes, any that are not sold by 12 weeks will become a clean meat source for my family.

Growing like weeds! Out of 3 litters we have 24 bunnies total and we have not lost a single one. I thought that was unusual but I'm very pleased with how these moms have done. Nearly all of the bunnies in the third litter (Big Momma x Bud) are reserved and they aren't even 3 weeks yet. It was definitely the most beautiful litter. This is them now.

The harlequin turned out to be a Japanese, and I thought that one in the back was going to be a solid black but now I'm pretty sure it's a steel. It's getting that ticking pattern in its coat. The litter of 9 red bunnies are good and healthy but they will be the all meat litter because they are wild like the momma and I just wouldn't feel right selling them as pets. It amazes me what a difference there is in the temperament of these litters. The first litter and the one pictured above are fine with handling and are curious around people, but the all red litter scatter when I have to reach in their cage, and one even squealed when I picked it up. I don't get that with my others at all. The oldest litter will be ready to go to new homes this Wednesday. One is sold already. I will put pictures of them up next week

Here are 2 of my oldest litter.

The booted Chestnut is my favorite of the litter. She is just so calm and is bound to make someone a great pet. I did another male/female check today, and though my opinion differs every time I do it, (once a week) I am pretty sure I've got 6 does and 1 buck.

I realize this will be off topic, but being a horse person my first thought was what would a baby look like from a rabbit and a palomino...
This is what I found...

(Yes I photo-shopped this)

Gorgeous bunnies by the way!!

Got a new doe today. She's a broken chinchilla standard rex. She has a pretty horrible earmite infestation though, shame on her previous owner for letting it get this bad. I have started her on a vegetable oil treatment and I'm keeping her far away from my other rabbits for the time being. When I get this stuff cleared up we'll get to experiment with a Pal x Rex cross!

When I breed my New Zealand White female and a Palomino Male some turned out black with a mix of golden in it and some looked just like wild rabbit in fur quallity.
