What if there are no chickens when I finish the Coop?? !

Cluckin'Along :

Hello,
and welcome to the irrational fears of a want-to-be chicken owner! I have gathererd all of the supplies, am designing the coop now, and hope to have it built by next weekend...... But all I have lined up is a full grown rooster (Ameraucana!), and possibly a few Cookoo Marans (chicks)..... But I really want some Wellsummers and Some Ameraucana Hens! I don't want to put any orders in in case there are coop issues or life issues (have a few of those), But, But, BUT! What if I get it all done an' I can't find chickens?

For some strange reason this really worries me! I want everything to be perfect before I get the birds...Can any of you chicken folks out there put my fears to rest?

BTW: I live in Rhode Island

Paranoia will destroy ya!!! 'Sides, I'm not that far and I have chickens...we here at BYC vow to make sure you have chickens, lots and lots of chickens. Fear not!

Place your order now but set delivery for some point in the near future when you are confident things will be ready for them. Just cuz you order chicks now nothing says you have to take immediate delivery. Ideal hatchery will let you do that. I'm sure other hatcheries will as well.

Yay! Thank You all! I am only looking to start with pet quality, I really want some experience before I try breeding, knowing me I'd fall in love with some disqualifying trait and then think I had fabulous stock. Hah! Thank you again for soothing my Fears!
