I got this fella by accident with some hen chickies.

Since I assume you know that's a male chicken...I think he's a sexlink rooster. The hens of that type would be red/gold, and the roosters look like yours.

"Sexlink" is any cross where the males and females look different at hatch: not a pure breed, but quite useful chickens to have. The catch is they won't breed true in future generations--any chicks he sires will have a variety of different colors and traits, although his daughters would probably be reasonably good layers of brown eggs.

Eating him sounds good to me--my favorite solution for extra roosters!

You've named him something like Dumpling, A La King, McNugget or somesuch, right? I find that naming my cockerels something edible keeps me focused on their ultimate destination, my plate. This enables me to give them as much affection as they'll tolerate in the meantime.
