What in the word is this on the egg?

Hello friends! I'm back with an update on this egg I asked about a week ago, still have very little idea what day it's on, but, I candled today and this spot that was very light on the egg a few days ago has increased substantially. The duckling is still moving inside. What is this? Is it going go die?

Hmmm how many days has it been incubating?

Usually when we see bruises like that on the outside of the shell, it’s an indication that the duckling has tried to pip to hatch, and maybe leaked a little fluid between membranes. But looking at the candling pic, it’s way too early for that.

Bacteria would also be my concern, but it could be as simple as a blood vessel that formed a blob against the shell. If the duckling is still moving, I’d just be careful with it, monitor it often (keep your nose on high alert!) and hope for the best.

Thank you so much for this answer. If you look closely at the uncandled photo, the dark spot has a light yellowish ring around it a few centimeters back. Fo you believe bruise? Or infection?

The egg has been incubating for about a week. I picked it up from a bunch of undeveloped unsat on eggs, but it turned out it was developing and I was already too far away to return it. So I truly have no idea what day it's on, so if you have any advice there too, please let me know.

From the candling pic, I would guess 14-18 days of incubating.

I have a sinking feeling that it will just quit developing before it hatches, but there is still hope, so I wouldn’t give up yet.

Does the other side look about the same when you candle (minus the dark spot)? Nice and full dark? If so, I think I would stop turning the egg now, leave it laying with the lowest side of the air cell dip facing upward, and just wait. When you see very little light space between the body and the air cell, add some water at that time to the incubator and see if it hatches.

Here it is on the opposite side. I have a similar sinking feeling but I still wanna do my best.

I'm thinking it's a meat spot that has attacked to wall inside the egg. I'm thinking you will have a good chance at hatching it and I'd continue to turn it twice a day till Lockdown.

Thank you. Just about how big would you say the baby inside should be at lock down? Like I said I'm doing a lot of guess work here as far as days, so I'm taking all experienced guesses, lol.
