This is a serious disease(IB) infectious bronchitis? Or some other respiratory disease
Grit?Do they have grit? Something could be stuck in her throat...
Wow. What should I do... or is there something I can buy to help? This is a serious disease
Ditto Dat.She is definitely is having trouble breathing or is in distress. Unfortunately, that could be numerous things.
Grit. Grit is needed for all birds. It is stored for a short time in their gizzard to help them to chew their food since birds don't have teeth. They need to have some.Grit?
Thank you for the advice.Ditto Dat.
She could have something stuck in her throat, or have aspirated some water while drinking, or have a respiratory infection.
When I have a bird that is acting 'off' I isolate bird in a wire cage within the coop for a day or two....so I can closely monitor their intake of food and water, crop function(checking at night and in morning before providing more feed), and their poops. Feel their abdomen, from below vent to between legs, for squishy or hard swelling. Check for external parasites or any other abnormalities.
Best to put crate right in coop or run so bird is still 'with' the flock.
I like to use a fold-able wire dog crate (24"L x 18"W x 21"H) with smaller mesh(1x2) on bottom of crate under tray.
Then you can put tray underneath crate to better observe droppings without it being stepped in. If smaller mesh is carefully installed, tray can still be used inside crate.
Nah, I bet she just ate too fast and had a piece in her throat.Someone mentioned that she may have been egg bound and having issues.
So glad to see she is better! Thanks for updatingUpdate.... this morning she seems fine and back to normal. Someone mentioned that she may have been egg bound and having issues. So far none have give any eggs and no idea if this would be normal. Thank you to everyone who commented and replied.
