We ordered two Australorp chicks, 3 days old, preferably hens, and was given a 90% chance they were hens. Instead we received two, obviously non-Australorp chicks. When they were young a person cannot really tell but a hatchery should know WHAT they are raising, I thought. We ended up with two roosters (we live in town, yep), but do not know the breed. I assume Rhode Island Reds? Any help is appreciated! We would love to have a black Australorp hen to replace our sweet Pearl. We love these guys but a little unhandy living in town.
