what is a good anti roost angle for top of a nest box

I would agree. 30-45 if possible. Flat will be a cleaning nightmare. I just did nest dividers and I cut them 45 degrees for same reason. See my page.

I don't think I planned for a specific angle (especially since I was fumbling my way through building them), but mine can't roost on top. I know it's less than 45. My little d'uccle roo has on occasion tried it, and promptly slid off with wings a'flappin. I'll measure and report back later...

I made my nest boxes with a 45 degree angle on painted, clear-coated plywood. The Polish & Cochins persisted sleeping on it anyway, leaning against the wall.

I finally got some thin clear acrylic "plexiglass" at Home Depot & screwed it over the top. Now they slide right off --angrily

I put the roost over this acrylic, which has a second acrylic strip screwed on at the lower edge.

It makes a great poop-board. Easy to wipe 100% clean every week!
