We always build our own because then you can change them as you expand..and wayyyy cheaper usually

My brother gets wood (free) from his work, so it is usually cheaper for me to make them. Absolutely agree I can expand on to them easily.

Best to be able to walk into your duck house for cleaning an egg gathering. Also some inexpensive vinyl to cover the floor for protection of the wood.

That is a great point because you will get really really tired of hitting your head everyday when you go in to get the eggs and to clean.

that is really cute and I might be wrong but I bet it's made horribly, cheap wood, screws, etc. Will probably fall apart in no time at all. Have you seen the junk ones they sell at Tractor Supply? A 5 yr old would be able to tear them up!

I actually just finished constructing it, they currently sleep in my large coop with my chickens. This is also my first winter with my chickens and ducks.

Can't imagine roof access to a coop in our winters...

It is in my large run under a covered section. It has tin roofing, so even if it was out in the weather either the sun would warm it or I could just use a shovel to scrape the snow off. The roof is also a slant roof.
