I had my sister in law purchase me one because the place she went to sold out of speckled sussexes QUICK today! I've been wanting one forever and the place I buy chickens at locally is selling out of chicks within an hour of them being put in the store.
After researching online I can only deduce that it is another name for the SS but I'm not sure if theres a new breed/hybrid out there now! Thank you all!

According to my current understanding and experience, "Paint" usually refers to one copy of dominant white crossed to black.. giving a Dalmation type look.. white bird with black spots. It's becoming pretty common in Silkies though I've not seen it in Sussex yet. Maybe it's become a project color in the Sussex??

Paint doesn't breed true if you cross paint to paint. The following chart from google images shows approxiumately how it breeds..

I cannot say for sure whether this is what the seller meant.. but it's one possibility of what is meant by the term paint.

Do you have pics of the chick? Do you know the source? What country are you located in?
