What is a Painted Sussex?

Hello, I have a new question. My sister in law may have the paint sussex. Do any of them have a yellow instead of a white tint? She is about 10 weeks old.

That white chicken is definitely what I would call a “paint” bird, which is one copy of dominant white over a darker base color (most commonly black). In the pictures the bird looks pretty white. But paints can have the autosomal red gene that gives them a tan/brown/reddish tint. I have a few paint colored birds with autosomal red. I’ll post a picture of a couple. The boys tend to have more leakage than the girls.

Very pretty, it's hard to see the red tint. What breeds are your birds?

In my birds, it shows up as a tan/brownish leakage coming through, most strongly on the neck area. I call them dirty paints. I have heard that it is very hard to breed out of them, sadly. They are part of a project I am working on to breed blue egg laying silkies. So they are 1st and 2nd generation crosses between silkies and ameraucana bantams ☺️
