What is a started pullet?

I have a broody hen that has been sitting on a golf ball for about 4 days. Can I put her in the box with them?

You can try. Some broodies will take to them while others won't. You'd really just need to observe their behavior.

I agree with the other posts. Looks like 2 day olds to me too. If you have a broody I agree with the post that your broody may or may not accept the chicks. If you put them with her and she is very broody, chances are she will accept them but you will have to watch her closely at first. I have put chicks with a broody and have had good luck so far. Some friends said they have had good luck too for the most part but every once in a great while one will not take them and she may kill them. I have a broody right now sitting on a dozen eggs. She doesn't get off the eggs every day but usually every other day to eat, drink and poop.

Tried the hen, no go. She backed into one corner and all the chicks went to the other. One or two tried to get underneath her and she pecked at them. Got one of my husbands utility lights, put it on the side of the box, put a meat thermometor on the other. They seem happy. I can't believe after all the research I did I ordered chicks. I saw pullet and thought I ordered started pullets. Started isn't there. It was just pullet.

The thermometer has an alarm on it and we set it at 95. If it goes higher the alarm will go off. They were loud and huddling together till we got them set up and now they are more spread out and peeping quietly. What a day! I home school my son, so when the post office called, the first thing out of his mouth is, "Can we skip school today?" I said no, but then we got them and found out they were chicks, not started pullets and it has been chaos ever since.
