It may have said this in the links posted but my understanding is trolling is a fishing term where you bait someone. Of course I always thought that when fishing it was the dumb fish that takes the bait. I think trolling initiates the bite but the biter is just as guilty by responding. Others may not agree with this though. One good thing about BYC is the mods are usually lifers and get to know the longtime posters styles and are pretty good about understanding some posts that sound like trolling but in reality are a posters way of communicating in a bolder fashion
