What is an Easter Egger?

They lay greenish eggs. I think EEs and Ameraucanas are the same thing. True Araucanas have no tails and have ear tuffs.

Rooster is partly right. Easter Eggers are mutt chickens that have the blue egg gene. They are a mix of possibly true Ameraucanas and Araucanas. Ameraucana is an accepted breed with set standards and so is Araucana. Easter eggers can be fun chickens, pretty, lay eggs that can be green, blue, pinkish or just tan. Ameraucanas by standard, lay blue eggs only. Jody here raises all three and she is quite the expert on them-I'm sure she'll expound on what I've just said. Hatcheries confuse the issue too much and almost every one sells an Easter Egger, not an Ameraucana, no matter what they call it.
