what is banding?

I thought that banding was done for id purposes but just saw a sight that indicated that feather legged breeds needed to be banded... same thing or do I need to trim feathers for hygenie?

Banding is for Identification Purposes, Also for Show birds there probably Assuming your gonna show your birds. I wouldn't sweat it. Pets don't get banded.

I may be a bad chicken mama, but I banded the ones that I wanted to keep here at the house so we wouldn't confuse them with the ones going to live with the other chickens at the big coop. They all looked so much alike, I really couldn't tell them apart very well. I used the yellow poultry bands with numbers on them and I bought them at my feed store. Just ask them; they probably have them behind the counter.
