What is best way to introduce 4 month peahen

There is one white peacock 1 year old, a few silkies and a few araucanas and I want to put the young peahen in there soon, she hatched on July 10th. Should I just put her in at night or crate her in there first. SHe was raised by my turken who died sadly in end of September.

Any input is appreciated and have a Happy Thanksgiving to all tomorrow.

Since it is a peahen and you are introducing her to a young peacock, I don't think it will be a problem. He will be happy to have a girl and he probably won't be too harsh on her...As for the chickens, I don't have any but lots of people say it is best not to keep peafowl and chickens in the same pen because of the diseases chickens can give peafowl. Free-ranging them together is okay. Even though it isn't recomended I know a bird breeder who keeps chickens and peafowl together and his birds are fine. I think you should put her in with the male durring the daytime, that way you can have good light to see what is going on and everything. Whenever I put new birds in a pen with others I just let them in and keep an eye on them. Your peacock might pick on the peahen a bit, but it will only be to establish a pecking order.

Anyways that is my opinion.

Thanks, I appreciate your input. With chickens, especially new roosters, sometimes it is best to put them in at night in the dark but I can try your suggestions and see how it goes.

I tried bringing her in there so we sat in the run for about 35 minutes and all she wanted to do was sit in my lap. One of the 2 araucana roosters in there kept doing the dance to try and mate with her so I kept telling him she wasn't a chicken but he didn't seem to care.

Any more thoughts or suggestions?

So that was the pen with the male peacock in it? Has your peahen ever had another peafowl to hang with? She might be so used to human interaction that she doesn't care for her own kind. Since she just stays in your lap you should stand outside of the pen. Peafowl are social birds so it would be good for her to socialize with another peafowl. As for the rooster I am guessing it won't be a problem, but I don't have chickens.

Well as I said my Turken hen raised her and died sadly so I kind of fill in when she wants to be picked up. It is too cold today but I will try what you said. She is in a large dog crate with other birds near her and a few times she got out but stayed in the coop but that is a free range group so I wouldn;t want to loose her to a predator or have her going on my neighbor's roof.
