So, I just did a search on google, "What is bumblefoot?", and got a very limited number of links, then got directed towards some song or music group. I need to reword my search and explore further, but I'm hoping to get some quick descriptions/experiences regarding this condition. I never really came across this in any books I read prior to getting my flock, but have stumbled upon this since I've had my pullets.
For those of you who have dealt with this, what are some of the symptoms that clued you in on the problem? How often should we be inspecting our chickens' feet? Were there obvious issues, or did you just happen to stumble upon the condition?
These are just general questions, but any info would be greatly appreciated. Bumblefoot sounds as though it would be horribly painful and difficult to treat. I can't even imagine any of my girls walking and climbing around with an ulcerated foot. I'd want to catch it as early as possible.
