What is catnip and what does it do

    Does anyone know what catnip is and if it harms chickens? I want my chicks to be safe

    Catnip is a member of the Mint family and your chickens should be ok around.

    Catnip is an herb and it is safe!!! I use it dried in my nest boxes because rats,mice,and bugs are very repelled by it.

    That is cool to know! I can't help but imagine my cat wanting to be in the nest box with the catnip! [​IMG]

    I also dry lavender,mint,calendula,lemon balm,and rosemary for the same purpose. Makes the coop smell nice too [​IMG]
