E and E^R are both crow winged (black wing triangle instead of groundcolor wing triangle).
E hens are pretty solid colored but the roosters can leak a lot of groundcolor in hackles and saddle.
So the most striking difference with the other e-mutations is the crow wing.

let me try to explain this..

CrowWing pattern is a Wild Type bird based on E^R(Birchen allele)

Duckwing pattern is a WildType bird based on "e+"(Duckwing)

what's a Wild Type bird? well anything that resembles the "Wild" ancestor of the chicken, the Red Jungle Fowl(Red Jungle Fowl are based on e+ so they are Duckwing)
redjunglefowl.jpg

so if the Red Jungle Fowl is "the Original" WildType looking bird what is the difference between Duckwing and CrowWing?

below image is of a Black Breasted Red OEG(usualy based on Duckwing,BUT can also be based on eb(Brown) or eWh(Wheaten like faverolles) )
DuckwingvsCrowwing.jpg

the roosters on the above pics are wild type looking, BUT the difference is highlighted with the colored circle, the Duckwing have colored Wing Bay and the Crow Wing have Black Wing Bay.

hope this helped
