DE=Diatomaceous earth organic is best called fossil flour, its a white powder, it's fossil skeletons of sea creatures that in shape are like diamonds and cut like them as well if your animal eats the DE, it will eviscerate any worms/ parasites they have or it can when used over the manure pile kill hatching flies, I dust my coop with it everytime I clean if it gets too dusty I just spray a light mist of water to tame it down, my chicks are on sand, works well with pine shavings as well...also helps with the smellies..... hope this helped.

I've also heard of people using it as a food supplement. Actually, that's what it says on the bag. I use it for wee beastie control, including slugs on my hostas.
