What is everyone cooking for the 4th of July? Chicken anyone

Chicken Gumbo, tater salad, killer chocolate cake and a refreshing cocktail to finish while watching fireworks over the lake!!

Im waiting to hear if the butcher has our lamb ready in time or not. I took him in last thurs and he said *a week* so its gonna be close lol.

Leg of lamb on the grill if hes back in time for the 4th.. probably grill some pork chops if not!

We are going to be eating 2 barbequed BR roosters for independance day. Hopefully they will be good.

I hosted 2 parties in the last couple weeks.

One was a run building party - we had a ton of concrete to mix and pour so we had a dozen folks out to help and party.

The other was a 5 year old birthday party. We had ten 5 years olds plus both parents of each kid showed up and stayed the whole time!

So I have party planning burnout. DH invited a LOT of people over for the 4th (despite our pact that we would not have a party this year). So I just emailed them all and told them it is pot luck so bring food.

I have no idea what we are having that day! I'll provide a crockpot full of dogs and beans and a case of beer, but other than that, it is up to the guests.

we've got a cornish that is probably a week over due, we're trying to hold out until friday. DF says its my turn to butcher...thought I was ready, perhaps not. As to how we're cooking it...I'm thinking beer in the rear chicken. This ones names is Anniversary Chicken, its our 4th on the 4th so we're hoping to do something big if he can get off in time from work. Hope everyone has a happy one!

fresh fruit salad (w/ lime juice, honey & poppy seeds) mm good!

lemon meringue pie (my favorite)

Sweet tea, lemon aid, water, beer,
