What is everyone cooking for the 4th of July? Chicken anyone

We have NO plans for July 4th. How did that happen?!? My cousin is having a shindig but I'm not really fond of the idea of hanging out with extended family. Think I'll clean the cat box instead.

July 5th, however, we've invited a ton of friends over for the Tall Ships Festival - http://www.tallshipstacoma.com - and then to our house for a BBQ.

BBQ menu:
hamburgers
green salad
chips ("Tall Ships an' Chips" is the theme)
drinks
whatever people bring

man I just thought of something it might sound crazy but you guys already went chicken crazy so we should have had a chicken meet/4 of July party or something

I'll be firing up the old smoker grill to slow cook some pork ribs, chicken, thick cut lean pork strips, and some pork and venison sausage. Can you tell we like pork at our house?

With that, we will be having:
Dirty rice dressing
My world famous baked beans
Cold Slaw
Garlic Bread
Cheese Cake
Sweet Tea
Cold Sweet Milk for me!

DH & I are staying at home alone. This is his way of protesting the high gas prices. We are going to ride our horses, have a picnic and maybe do some fishing.

plus riding horses and having a picnic sounds like fun but you can't forget the fireworks

We're going to the Holland State Park beach (Lake Michigan) because it's pretty close to our house. They shoot fireworks out over the lake, and everyone on the beach gets a great view.

As for food, I don't know what we'll be making, but usually, we do something like this:

- Hot dogs
- Bratwurst with BBQ sauce
- Pasta salad
- Potato salad (mayo and mustard kind)
- Baked beans with maple syrup and bacon
- Chips and French onion dip
- Chips and salsa
- Cookies

It's easy and it fits into my picnic basket and cooler. The state parks always have public charcoal grills available, so we use those.
