what is everyone paying for feed?

Layena $14-15, Local mills $9-10.
Co-Op brand "lay pellets" leave a more grain-y looking poo, seems like it may not digest as well so I went back to Layena for a while,
but I'm trying a new mill which says they've been selling "egg pellets" since 1942 and it's $9.99 for 50# - haven't cracked the bag open yet, so have to see how they do on it.

I usually get them a bag of rolled oats for $9ish that I offer in a separate feeder and it lasts a while.
Cracked corn is ridiculously expensive in my opinion. I usually get whole deer corn for half the price of cracked, just be sure to get one that says Mycotoxin free (sp??). For "scratch" I just get whatever is a good deal, sometimes I'll get them sweet feed or all stock feed or regular birdseed for treats instead of corn. I always buy BOSS when it's on sale after Thanksgiving and 50# of it goes a long way at my place.

Local Mill - organic layer pellets 22$ for 50lb - Green Mountain Feed - My six chickens dont go through much feed at all but the 5 turkeys - sheesh - upwards of 25lbs a week!
I had considered the option of switching my turkeys off organic (24$ for 50lb) but they dont stock conventional in the winter!

the 50# medicated chick starter (recommended by vet to feed routinely b/c of TERRIBLE coccidia problem here) : $13.99
50# Scratch grain (mix of cracked corn, milo, wheat, etc.) last year was $7 something, is now: $ 8.49
Flock Block (purchase 1 or 2 per month, last year was around $10 or $11, is now: $12.99
Crushed Oyster shell for supplemental calcium: (not sure, but I think last time I bought it it was approx.) $ 8.00

Cabbage (I toss a couple of heads into the run, and into the coop on cold nasty days for distraction) $ .59 per pound
Other Greens: kale, collards, mustard, turnip, etc. varies

they also get table scraps, stale bread, veggie trimmings, and their absolute FAVORITE treat is scrambled eggs.

11.44 for 50# of Pulain layer pellets
12.19 for 50# Pulain grower
9.50 for 50# cracked corn
This was yesterday at Agway in Greenfield, ma

I am also at 22+ a 50# bag for Homestead Organics. I could use GM but it's as expensive and there's more chaff it seems. We're at $3.29 for gas. Ridiculous really.

Up in BC canada.. as long as you buy feed directly from the store it comes from
for example - Otter makes food, and at otter its $10.65 for 16% layer prellet, $1 more for crumble and $11.65 for 17% whole earth ... the IGa grocery store near my house sells feed its $12.00 a bag for the 16% pellets, and almost $15 for the whole earth.
I like the buy Nutrena Pellets at the hay store though.. It's $10.75 a bag .. 20kg size. and the otter food here is $1 more than at otter too.

Baby food though, you can only get at otter... and it;s $3.99 for a 4kg bag...

For me though, a 5 gal plastic feeder is 44.99 and 5 gal plastic waterer is 39.99 so way more expensive!

The last two times feed was bought, DH got it (even though the chickens are mine). I went last week and got 100# and the guy behind the counter said $17.xx . I said "Are you sure that's right? I thought it was around $6 a bag?" Then he informed me that the price for feed skyrocketed. I came home and called all the other feed stores and everyone else was higher. I hope it goes back down this summer.

50# bag of Layer Pellets or Crumbles are $10
50# bag of Chick Starter are $12.50
40# bag of Cracked Corn are $7.50
40# bag of Scratch are $8.10

If I buy in bulk it is about $1.00 cheaper a bag for Pellets and Crumbles. the Bulk starts at a tom(2000lbs)
