I want to get quail, and I'm planning on keeping them in my old chicken coop, which is basically just an uninsulated shed.
I'm in Alaska, and it can get to -36F, but the average winter temp is -20F.
Can they survive without insulation? Or will I need to insulate the coop? Assuming there are no drafts ofc!

I would insulate the coop. They are quite cold hardy, but they need to be dry, out of the wind, and have shelter. In those kinds of temps, I would also give them enough straw to burrow into as well as small shelters that they can huddle into.
