What is he ?

My grand children and I bought my first bunch of chickens about 6 months ago from our local feed store.When the man at the store asked us what we wanted the kids wanted all colors. I got 4 red chickens that the man said were RIR. We left with 9 chicks and two ducks
Well one has white speckles now and thats her name alsne looks like a RIR,(Rosey)and a 3rd one looks like a RIR except she lays green eggs.
I have decided that there not full blooded RIR
I would like to know what your best guess is on my rooster that I got in the same batch? he is about 6 month's old

Thanks I went to a chicken breeds page and he really does look like that and so does my green egg laying red chicken! Is there any other explanation to green eggs other then mixed Americana ?

She's too light red to be a Buckeye, and her earlobe is more pinkish/white that red. Could be an Easter Egger cross.

If your rooster came with the hens, I'm thinking he's more an Easter egger. Since he doesn't lay eggs and you're not breeding for show birds, it's kind of a moot point. Pretty much the only way to know will be to breed him, raise the pullets and see what color eggs they lay.

1st one looks wyandotte-ish, the other two are Easter Eggers.
