What is it about muscovies?

I would get muscovies if noise became an issue. Mallard derived girls can be quite noisy.

I plan on pinioning any young ones I raise so they can't fly. I have to keep the six black/white pied girls I got a few months ago in a covered pen. They will fly to neighboring farm ponds and I am afraid they will be shot. Mine haven't been aggressive so I haven't thought about their feet.

All of the above and Scovies are family Ducks and I mean real family. Mr. Drake will fly low to the ground across the yard if the Ducklings start crying out. Daddy to the rescue.

Wifezilla, don't be afraid of those talons, I have no scars. Once Daddy sees its me with his Ducklings or his girls he settles right down and has never attacked me, well, not yet anyway.

My Scovies fly around the yard, not away. The girls would never leave their Mr. Drake. When he was limping, not sure why, for 2 days they took turns staying by his side to defend him if necessary, it was real cute. I can't imagine having other ducks.

I took some young ducks to a pet expo today...All the kids wanted to cuddle her. The pekin ducklings were almost exactly the same...But for some reason, she was the one I saw being picked up the most often. I know there is a slight difference betwwen the ducklings...But interesting that they always cuddled Heather, the kids wouldnt have known they are different breeds.

She has had such a big day she has been asleep since we got home.

They are as sweet as our pet dogs, as far as we're concerned!...

One of my personal favorite characteristics of them is their smiles and laughing sound when I approach them...And they're just starting to fly and when they land, even if only 20', they act so proud of themselves smiling, making the cutest lil hissing noise while their tails wag 100mph, I could just hug em till they pop it's so cute!...
