I have one chick who will pick up a piece of bedding and then all the others will chase her around for sometimes 15 minutes. It's hysterical and I just wonder what's so special about that one piece of bedding she has since there is a whole brooder full

Does anyone else's chicks do this?

Yep, it's quite interesting to give them a plate full of scrambled eggs, and the first one to get a piece gets harrassed and chased all over, when the plate sits there untouched!!! They are our own little TV show!!!

Haven't given them anything other than crumbles and yogurt. It will definately be a prime time event when there is food to chase around....

Oh, yeah, and they really get to know you then! My hubby is currently in VA, I'm in FL, and when we are on the phone and I go anywhere near my chickies, they get loud and come barreling to the door, fighting over who gets there first! My hubby just says "you have gone and spoiled them royaly already!" and I say "yep"!

They know who holds the food dish!!!

I can't wait, from what I've read the general consensus on here is that they should be 2 weeks before they get food other than crumbles. I'm counting down....lol

I watched one of mine the other day pick up a wet piece of papertowel and run around wildly chirping at the top of his lungs just WANTING someone to chase him. No one really cared!

He finally settled down and gave up...

Send him to my house. He'll get all his running out of him.

My babies did this with worms! 6 or 7 worms, but once one of the chicks got one, everyone wanted THAT ONE! The other worms tried to take that opportunity to make a "crawl" for it.. but they all got picked off in the end. My son especialy liked how our girls would fight over a worm, and pop it in half!
