Did you all coin the term or something?

Lockdown is when you stop turning the eggs and set them for hatching,

Includes higher humidity and lock it down so no body onpens the incubator during hatching no matter what.

bad things can happen if you open your incubator when chicks are pecking

thay can get shrink wrap in the egg and die.

you can loose humidity fast

so LOCK IT

I agree what lock down is but I keep my humidity up. I do take the chicks out as they hatch and put them into a brooder. The temp and humidity in my incubator recovers quite quickly. I look at like having a broody that will get off the nest to eat and poop. I guess I'm lucky as I have always had good hatches. (Now the day before {Wednesday}) Yesterday was day 18 for me. I set the eggs in the morning and in the late afternoon one chick hatched and three more (now) yesterday at day 19. Sat is day 21.
