Molting is the dramatic feather loss that all chickens experience usually in the fall. It can start as innocent feather loss of one or two a day then the next day the chicken can appear nearly bald. Supply a good quality diet all year long and watch for bullying. This is a normal process and you flock will return to normal in a few weeks.

Some people do feed that product with good results. I have never used it as my chickens do well on the varied diet I feed them.

Molting is when chickens lose all their feathers in a process to grow all new ones. It's a sensitive time for your chickens and the pin feathers are tender. I give mine feather fixer, it really speeds things along. I usually don't provide it until they are getting naked or have bare spots. Molting is like the chickens way of re-booting. Fresh new feathers and come spring healthy and lovely eggs.
