What is my horse's lineage?

I've had a few people at my barn say he's got the end quarters of a quarter horse, the height of a thoroughbred, the head of a warmblood, and the soul of a mustang! OK!

He is a treat, to be sure. A real gent in the arena. Just have a heck of a time catching him in the paddock...likes to play "you can't get me" games.

I would say he was a mix of your usual stock horses. TB, QH, mustang.

He is a big boy. I hope you have fun with him!

TB/APHA would be my take. Looking around both breeds today, you see a lot of the broad foreheads and dishiness like he has. He is lovely...I'd love to see him HUS. His shoulder screams TB as does his neck attachment. His throatlatch is thick like some stock horses. His closeness on the hind legs also points to a TB.

Hey, if you've got yourself a good horse, who cares where he came from. Enjoy him!!

My worst horse was a well breed TB (who I put down because she was dangerous) and one of my best horses is a breeding stock Paint, who was found wandering on the side of Highway 40.
He's got a gorgeous head.

He's not branded, chipped or tattoo'ed by any chance?

Whatever he is, he's a cutie.

Hint: when taking pics of horses for evaluation , it's best to take them from both sides, with the saddle off, and don't cut off the feet and legs--they tell a lot about a horse's history. Nice shots from the front and directly behind (including legs and feet) are also helpful.

hes pretty...I like him..just because some horses have dished heads doesnt make them an arab..most of your good cow horses these days have very dished heads, paints and QH..my husbands 3 year old is an own son of RIS KEY BUSINESS and he has a very dished head,as almost all his babies do,and just because they are tall doesnt mean TB,if you look in the paint horse journal most of them are tall, very tall,I have seen some getting close to 17 hands, without being TB crossed,my 5 year old is an own son of SLIGHTLY ZIPPED,he is tall 16+,no TB in him..enjoy him,he looks like a nice horse

He's put together like a paint/quarter horse. Remember, you can get that TB look from any appendix quarter horses because they are crossed with TB. But the white sclera and striped hooves usually come from paint or appaloosa. Shoulder, neck, legs, hindquarters and head all look paint/qh to me. If you aren't an APHA person, just so you know, American Paint Horses have lots of quarter horse in the pedigrees, which is why I mention the breeds together.

And, it's true, many of the quarter horse lines are now producing dished faces and even that thinner throat latch, arched neck look, too. You can go all the way from the thick foundation quarter horse to the HUS looking appendix quarter horse. A quarter horse for EVERYONE!! LOL.
