What is my roo roo doing?

If it helps you have more confidence, wear gloves and long sleeves. His pecking you should stop completely once he gets the message that you're the boss. And if he pecks you again after you have initially shown him who's boss, i would immediately pick him up and do it again. He can NOT be allowed to do that stuff.

HAAAAAA!!!!!! Kevlar? Full body armor? Just kidding! If I were you, I would definitely be sporting at least some long sleeves. 'Maybe a light-weight jacket.

Definately dominance not submission. A whiffle ball bat, soft broom, plastic bag on the end of a stick (with appropriate body armor or at least a long sleeved shirt:lol:) and convince him that you are the boss. If his attitude does not improve, replace him. A flogging rooster can cause serious damage followed by infection. It's not worth the stress. Chickens are supposed to be fun not an aggravation. JMO

My hubby had issues with my head rooster and he solved the problem by using a broom to "sweep" him out of the coop anytime he had to be in there. By DH taking ownership of the space he showed himself as the boss and he hasn't had any trouble with him since, even in the yard. He did get wiffle bat to defend himself, but hasn't had to use it.
