well SHE's silver laced for sure prob a slw but wont say for sure until you get some full body shots. i am 100% positive that its a pullet. all the feathers around her neck (hackle) are rounded indacates pullets plus a small comb and the small wattles also pullet. they turn red before the hens start to lay

See though Peanut's got the colored feathers on his tail, they're green and long and definitely not at all pullet like......

No he hasn't crowed but then again my silkie roo didn't start crowing until he was over a year old.
Peanut fights with my dog Holly whereas none of the girls will even go near her,Sonic won't even go near her,he runs away.
And Peanut will stomp his feet and bristle his neck if Sonic so much as fluffs a feather in an aggressive way.

I've gotta say that the only way I could ever believe Peanut was a pullet would be if he laid an egg.
He's grown so slowly compared to my girls and from what I've researched Wyandottes grow relatively fast.
But maybe I'm wrong, failure is always an option.
However,I am gonna be pretty disappointed if Peanut ends up being a girl.
At first I was hoping for a pullet, then I was really excited when I realized roo.
Either way I'll love Peanut, but if he ends up being a pullet.....jeeze it's gonna be a shocker.

Peanut is a cockerel. Though from the first picture I would have guessed pullet as well. Good thing you posted side pics!

Ah, those are the pictures that I was waiting for before deciding. Yes that is a very manly little chicken. Still a Silver Wyandotte. The roos look a lot different than the females. His coloration is hatchery quality, which means he won't be winning any shows, but he'll give you little baby pullets that will lay really well when they grow up.

Grats!

The first bird pictured sure looks like a pullet (smaller comb and the ears are not red yet), but the next pics show a cockerel (fully red ears, larger wattles and redder comb). Were the pics taken at different dates showing first a younger bird and then pics of the same bird when it's older? Or are they two different birds?
