I keep reading about marking the eggs so you know what side to turn them to, and I've got 2 different batchs going in so I want to mark those also. Wouldn't pencil come off? If just handling the eggs can be bad, I can't see using a permanent marker?

Thanks for the help.

I have always used pencil. Since you keep handling to a minimum, It really stays on well. You certainly don't want to use anything that could clog the pores of the egg.

Almost anything. even felt tip permanent marker is ok.... NOT suggested but it is ok! The inner membrane keeps it from reaching the chicks. I personally use a pencil (dull) but have heard alot of people using permanent.

God Bless!

may sound stragne but my friend uses bingo pens one dot each side in diffrent colours and its none toxic and doesnt rub off easy
