What is "scratch"?

What is scratch ? Not the scratch like " I scratched you ", but like the chicken food scratch.

The one in my area Eastern Colorado is cracked corn, wheat & milo. Its a 9% protein. Its really what it means something you throw out to the chickens to scratch and eat. Give the chickens something to do. It is not a complete feed so I wouldn't make this more then 10% of your chickens diet.
