Bought these eggs all supposed to be guinea fowl, but there were some chickens mixed in. Some eggs didn't make it, some chicks hatched some keets hatched. A few chicks eaten by a raccoon , an other was hawk food, then my emu stomped a guinea fowl to death. So outta 12 just this hen and a guinea fowl are left, it's been two month, so they seem to have escaped the curse of this doomed dozen. They are best of "friends" and are always together running around the yard. I know all that was unnecessary back story but ....
So what is she? She is small, see the sponge in the photo for scale. Also she has this crazy display, puffs up and fans her tail when she is threatened. Never seen a chicken do this. Bantam??
Also she just started laying eggs, a few weeks ago, and even though I take them each day, she has gotten broody and sit in her box most of the day, even with no egg under her. This drives the guinea fowl crazy, and he/she make an insane amount of squawking for hours in till she leaves the box.
