This is supposed to be a Black Copper Marans but looks nothing like my other Black Copper Marans seen in the back of the 1st pic. Today, she started growing a crest.

Perhaps a Easter Egger crossed with Back Copper Maran by accident?

If she was an Easter Egger she’d probably have a beard. And where would that tuft of feathers come from? Not a Maran, I’m sure

Not all EEs are bearded.

There's EEs that are made with Crested Cream Legbars.

That is true. And it’s why I said probably.
Also how could you tell she’s an EE if she doesn’t lay eggs yet?

Is it possible she’s a mix breed?

EEs, are usually pretty to identify, before eggs are laid.

That depends on where the bird was sourced.

Even at 3 weeks you could tell it’s an EE? This I had no idea.

It could be any mix breed. I can really tell with chicks, I’m better when their full grown lol. :p Anyway, good luck @EliseH

Just did a little research.
I found out that Marans do have little tufts. I guess she could be a maran.
Oops!
