What is she?

That girl would be the first generation sexlink, a cross between two pure breeds. If you breed her, you get a more crossed bird than you started with and there is no sexlinked trait you can rely on at hatch to tell the boys from the girls.

Mine did, at least twice in the two years that I had her (got her as a chick).

She was a black sex link. I got two at the same time, but now I have only one and she hasn't gone broody yet. It must depend on the chicken for this breed! She does lay some nice big brown eggs.

Again thanks to everyone on this amazing forum. I was just wondering that because last summer she went broody at the same time as my silkie, but she stayed on the nest much longer than my little silkie!

Maybe I'll have to get her some eggs this year who knows...

One of mine went broody about a month and half after she started laying. Then decided she wanted to be a layer again as soon as I had eggs ordered. She hasn't stopped since (that was about a month ago).

This is the same as one of ours. When we got her we were told that she was a Golden Sexlink. Possibly a cross between a Red Sexlink and a Golden Comet? I also have read that Golden Sexlinks were crosses between Rhode Island Reds and Rhode Island White...we have a small three-bird flock but she's our best layer in terms of size, frequency, and yet she is very much our smallest bird. We have a Barred Rock and a Rhode Island Red beside....Hasn't gone broody...
Upon doing more research into the identity of this bird, I'm definitely calling her a Cinnamon Queen now. She's kind of my favorite, so I may as well give her the most noble name possible.
