What is the benefit of bantam chickens?

Even "funner sized" devilled eggs come from quail!

I recently rehomed my small flock of bantam Brahmas.

Such sweeties, but small eggs were NOT a big hit at the farmers market. Agree with the banties for pets and show, large fowl for meat and egg production statements.

My japanese hen is sitting on eggs right now, they are great brooders!

I make hard boiled eggs from the banties and pack them in my husband and I's lunch for snacks! Perfect size!

The best broody hens ever!

I have 4 of these (pic below) that will hatch out 6 - 8 eggs (standardy size eggs from other chickens) 3 times a year. It don't get any better than that.

ETA: I"m thinking about getting 6 more to make a perfect 10! They hatch out about 90% of my flock. I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my girls.

A friend gave me a pair of hers. I bought 6 EE banties too. I will use them to hatch out eggs. My big hens don't go broody very often if at all. They are the cutest things ever. I feel for Sparky my bantam rooster. It takes every thing his has to get a crow out..... lol. He is very good to Sally his mate.
