What is the best all-around wormer?

This thread is old, but can Valbazen be put in their water? My birds are all the same size, and I want to avoid catching them all.
It cannot be added to water, it will settle out. They won't get the correct dose. It needs to be given orally to be effective and dosed correctly. How many birds do you have?
Easiest way to worm them is to lock them in the coop at dark, go out early in the morning before sun up and take them off the roost one at a time and dose them. They are calmer then, and no chasing needed. Once dosed, put them in the run, when the coop is empty you are done. If you have a lot of birds you can divide them by color, breed, etc, whatever is easily identifiable, and worm one group a day, until all groups are done. I do 30 birds on a regular basis, takes me about an hour. If you must worm by mixing in water you can use one form of Safeguard, that is Safeguard Aquasol, it's really expensive.

Hi! Does safeguard do the same as valbazen to treat all types of worms?

Safeguard will treat all types except tapeworm. If you don't know what type of worm you are treating for then Safeguard dose is .23 ml per pound of body weight, once a day, 5 days in a row. If you KNOW you are only treating for roundworm then you can do two doses 10 days apart. That will only work for roundworm. Valbazen will treat all the same, but you can do two doses 10 days apart for all of them. If you need to treat tapeworm then you need something with praziquantel in it, usually Equimax horse paste or Zimectrin Gold.

Thank you! I’m pretty sure it’s tapeworm😅 also, with it being more of a raining season, would it be alright to give I think it’s called corrid or something?

If a chickens has tapeworms, you will see tiny white segments slowly crawling around in feces.
Then you would need to go to a feed store and purchase a tube of Equimax equine paste and dose only the tapeworm infected chicken. Here's pic with tapeworm segments in feces.

DE is ineffective for internal parasites. Corid is only effective for coccidiosis. For tapeworm Equimax or Zimectrin Gold are the meds to use, Equimax is more economical, but if you can't find it then you can use the Zimectrin Gold.

No it is not. I give it externally and internally and it works for my flock every time. But you do you. I do what works for us. Along with regular use of oreganol etc which is also effective for my flock.

I have not had any of my birds die of worms or parasites since I started using neem, DE and oreganol. We have a good healthy flock now
