What is the best bedding for raising chicks with a broody ?

I tried to get rid of most of the pine chips. Snow the momma is taken out at ounce a day to got to the bathroom. What would be the best bedding for the brooder house?

I prefer pine shavings myself, but I've used straw, sand and rubber shelf liner for brooders...

I don't use a hen to raise chicks but in the brooder I strongly prefer pine pellets over pine shavings.

we use hay, it works well, keeps them warm and its fun to watch them play in it (ive had not hen raised chickies fight over hay XD, and they dont even eat it, just chase each other around to get it!)

I use the pine shavings from TS! Only 4.99 a bag. Cheapest I found. They will pick at it but don't really eat it. Just being chickens.

My chicks would do the same thing like with the hey, but with crickets. We call it chicken basketball.
