What is the best bedding?

My dad doesn't like the smell of quail all that much.

So I need to find a good bedding that's cheap and I don't have to change it every single day. Any ideas? Thanks

My only suggestions are wood shavings, and that stuff you get in bags that is compressed at the pet store. It comes in pink white and gray, but the gray is not artificially colored. Quaillady also swears by Yesterdays News or something like that, may be worth a look.

There is yesterday's news which is paper pelleted bedding...it's on the pricey end. At TSC you can get Equine pine pellets for $5.99 and that works too! Plus it smells nice and when wet it doesn't smell to bad

The pine pellets work the best. I've had 10 coturnix youngsters and 1 guinea keet in a rubbermaid tote with pellets for about 10 days and am just starting to smell them. Usually it's 3-4 days tops before they are clearing the room with their stink
